Racism and racial tension are not new in our nation, but there has been a resurgence of race-related chaos, confusion, and conflict in recent years for several reasons—the murder of George Floyd, Black Lives Matter protests, and the debate over Critical Race Theory to name a few. As believers, we must commit to acknowledging the history of racial injustice in our country and the church’s complicity while clinging to the hope of the gospel and finding practical, biblical ways to address these problems.
