Exodus 17:9–13 (ESV) — 9 So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose for us men, and go out and fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.” 10 So Joshua did as Moses told him, and fought with Amalek, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 Whenever Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, and whenever he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12 But Moses’ hands grew weary, so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it, while Aaron and Hur held up his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side. So his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his people with the sword.

Matthew 18:19–20 (ESV) — 19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

Ephesians 6:12—For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen (spiritual) world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5—We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of worldly reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (ESV) — 27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong;

1) He wants us to CONNECT with His heart to build relationship.

Luke 24:32 (ESV) — 32 They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?”

2) This connection with God RELEASES His power and wisdom.

R.A. Torrey – Prayer is the key that unlocks all the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power. All that God is, and all that God has, is at the disposal of prayer.

3) Prayer UNITES our heart to the people we pray for; thus over time we love who we pray for .

Matthew 5:43–48 (ESV) — 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

4) Prayer TRANSFORMS the spirituality of cities and nations and prepares the way for God’s purposes (Daniel 10).

1 Timothy 2:1-2—I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

Proverbs 21:1- The heart of a king or political leader is in the hand of the Lord. The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; He guides it wherever He pleases.

Daniel 10:2-3—I, Daniel, had been mourning (fasting and prayer) for three entire weeks. I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed.

Daniel 10:12-14—“Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray for understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your request has been heard in heaven. I have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia blocked My way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help Me, and I left him there with the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. Now I am here to explain what will happen to your people in the future…”

1. Commit to pray (schedule).
2. Pray the prayers of the Bible.
3. Attend prayer meetings.
