The Gospel of Matthew

Logic on Fire

HE IS THE CHRIST

He is King of ALL nations

“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”” (Genesis 12:3, NLT)

Jesus will be that David king who will reign over that Eternal Kingdom that will be a blessing to all people

He should be worshipped

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”” (Matthew 28:18–20, NLT)

All Authority – All Nations – All Allegiance

ALL AUTHORITY

“Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.” (Matthew 28:18, NLT)

The Proofs

1.      Fulfilment

2.      Teaching

3.      Character

4.      Miracles

What Governs our thinking? Jesus either has all authority or not

““But when the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit upon his glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered in his presence, and he will separate the people as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place the sheep at his right hand and the goats at his left. “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the creation of the world.” (Matthew 25:31–34, NLT)

““Then the King will turn to those on the left and say, ‘Away with you, you cursed ones, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons.” (Matthew 25:41, NLT)

ALL NATIONS

“God blesses those who work for peace, for they will be called the children of God.” (Matthew 5:9, NLT)

“Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants.” (Matthew 13:7, NLT)

“This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.” (Romans 1:1–5, NLT)

ALL ALLEGIANCE

““If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” (Matthew 10:37–39, NLT)

““Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.” (Matthew 7:21, NLT)
