Wanted: Week 5 - When Faith and Feelings Collide
Joshua and Caleb
Deuteronomy 1:21–22 (ESV) — 21 See, the LORD your God has set the land before you. Go up, take possession, as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has told you. Do not fear or be dismayed.’ 22 Then all of you came near me and said, ‘Let us send men before us, that they may explore the land for us and bring us word again of the way by which we must go up and the cities into which we shall come.’
How to ruin God’s plan:
Ignore God’s WORD and His PROMISES.
Exodus 23:27 (ESV) — 27 I will send my terror before you and will throw into confusion all the people against whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs to you.
Focus on the size of our PROBLEMS, not our GOD.
Fear is the source of much of our DISOBEDIENCE.
Trust our FEELINGS more than our FAITH.
Unbelief often presents itself as being “factual” or “practical” or “down to earth.” Yet, the most factual, practical, and down to earth thing we can to is trust the word of the living God. Their unbelief was not according to the facts, but despite the facts. David Guzik from his commentary.
Making their story our story:
Our commitment to our FAITH must start long before the CROWD and CULTURE get a vote.
We are on the road to REJECTION whenever we expect faith to be EASY.
