David

A Heart For God

DAVID - A HEART FOR GOD

“I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who shall fulfill all My will.”—Acts 13:22

When Samuel heard their demand, “Give us a king to rule us!” he was crushed. How awful! Samuel prayed to God. God answered Samuel, “Go ahead and do what they’re asking. They are not rejecting you. They’ve rejected Me as their King. From the day I brought them out of Egypt until this very day they’ve been behaving like this, leaving Me for other gods. And now they’re doing it to you. So let them have their own way. But warn them what they’re in for. Tell them the way kings operate…”—1 Samuel 8:6-9

The Lord said, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I’ve rejected him… Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.”—1 Samuel 16:1

1. DAVID WAS A WORSHIPPER

The Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.  .”—1 Samuel 16:7

2. GOD’S SPIRIT CAME UPON HIM

Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the Lord came upon David in power.—1 Samuel 16:13

3. A LIFELONG LEARNER

What most set David apart was his relentless confidence in God’s MERCY when he sinned.
