When Love Feels Like a Letdown

Abram/Sarai

Putting God first means …

We don’t just invite God into our relationships.

We build our relationships around Him.

1.   A God-centered love trusts God even when the future is unclear.

The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.” Gen 12:1-2 NLT

1)      A promise from God …

2)      A next step to take.

4 So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed … Gen 12:4 NLT

You just need the faith to take the next step.

Some time later … Gen 15:1

2. A God-centered love forgives—and trusts even after the mistakes.

3. A God-centered love waits even when hope runs out.

18 Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations. Rom 4:18 NLT

13 Then the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh? Why did she say, ‘Can an old woman like me have a baby?’ 14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return about this time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

Gen 18:13-14 NLT

Nothing is too hard for the Lord.

The Lord kept his word and did for Sarah

exactly what he had promised. Gen 21:1
