Week 3 - Made For More Than The Rut
Ecclesiastes 1:2 NIV
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13 CEV
Everything you were taught can be put into a few words: Respect and obey God! This is what life is all about.
Life is full of meaning when we know God and his purposes for our lives!
1. There are those who don’t know or enjoy God.
2. There are those who know God, but haven’t enjoyed knowing him.
3. There are those who know and enjoy God.
The first two are living life in a rut. But…
God’s original design for your life did not include a rut. God designed you to thrive.
We truly come alive when we walk with the Spirit of God.
Ephesians 5:15-20 NIV
[15] Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, [16] making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. [17] Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. [18] Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, [19] speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, [20] always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is God, the Difference Maker, living in you!
2 Timothy 1:6-7 NIV
[6] For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. [7] For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
Galatians 5:16 NIV
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Romans 8:26-27 NIV
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. [27] And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
