Pilate's Last Night

Psalm 38:4 — “My guilt has overwhelmed me…”

Pilate’s story is our story: Knowing the right thing… but not doing it.

James 4:17 — “If anyone knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin.”

Proverbs 29:25 — “The fear of man lays a snare…”

1. Pilate’s Sleepless Night

John 18:37–38 — “What is truth?”

Pilate tried to silence his conscience;

Easter invites us to surrender ours.

2. The Flashback…Who Was Jesus?

John 18:36 — “My kingdom is not of this world.”

3. The Rumors of Resurrection

  • “The tomb is empty.”
  •  “The guards saw something.”
  • “He appeared to His followers.”
  •  “Thomas touched Him.”

4. The Question Pilate Couldn’t Escape

“My kingdom is not of this world.”

We cannot wash our hands of our sin, only Jesus can do that.

5. The Easter Realization

You don’t need cleaner hands.

You need a resurrected Savior.

Psalm 51:7, 10 — “Wash me… create in me a clean heart.”

He is risen

and because He is risen,

we rise too.

Pilate tried to wash his hands…

but only Jesus can wash a heart.
